Let’s keep this one quick and simple: there’s been a pretty fruitful period of lightning in the region! I’ve had a few good days in a row in New Mexico and I’m gearing up for yet another today.
As I wrote in “Lessons Learned” I have been learning A LOT about this pattern and how to best approach it. One of the best lessons I’ve gotten so far is to be patient and wait until a bit later in the day to leave.
So with that, I’m going to go clean some house, eat some lunch then hit the road!
Lightning strikes with a storm at sunset near Encino, New Mexico.A lightning strike at dusk over Albuquerque, New Mexico.A double strike from this storm (with structure!) south of Vaughn, New Mexico.Stranger Things lightning over the Albuquerque, New Mexico metro area.Lightning over the open New Mexico countryside south of Clines Corners.A sunset triple feature west of Vaughn, New Mexico!Lightning strikes near Zia Pueblo, photo taken from Rio Rancho, New Mexico. I need to work this area more but its a bit harder with limited areas to shoot. What a view to the NW though!
Bonus!
Video of a few bolts!
A few of the lightning strikes I caught on film this past weekend from monsoon cells. Now that the second cam has arrived there'll be more opportunities to get video + stills time lapses. Can't wait! pic.twitter.com/ru2pX34rsO
